A welcoming place to know, love and serve God.
According to our Gospel of Mark chapter 6 today, Jesus went out and about (or as they say in Canada “oat in a boat”) teaching and helping people. The people came to him, believed if they could hear him or even touch him they would be healed---and they were! I believe there is a positive relationship between believing and better health.
For example, prayer can help a person have a greater sense of well-being, a grateful outlook, a reflective nature, and basically prayer gives a person more hope---all of which contribute to less stress and better health.
Going to church on Sundays helps us; surrounded by the encouragement of our faith-friends, knowing they are concerned and talk to God about you, we can feel supported spiritually, mentally, and physically.
We sing songs and hear sermons about how God is with us and we are never alone, that God hears us, that we have a purpose as we live on this earth, a destiny when we leave this planet, and that we are uniquely and lovingly created by God. These are positive influences that treat the ailments of our uptight, stress-fueled, ego-driven society. Christianity is good for your health!
So, medically speaking, take some advice from Dr. Rick---come to church and go through a procedure of encouragement; get a dosage of goodness, a prescript of peace, an injection of love, a referral to the Divine, a diagnosis of hope, and a prognosis of abundant life.
