A welcoming place to know, love and serve God.
Sometimes, when my life gets overly complicated or I feel inundated with bad news on TV, something within me says “Rick, go back to the basics---God is in charge of the big picture.”
I love the story about the humanistic scientists who decide they don’t need a Creator God and that they will clone their own sheep. They put on their white coats, set up the lab, adjust their equipment, then one of the scientists says, “And now let’s begin to duplicate this cell.” That’s when God reaches down and takes the cell in His hand and says, “Get your own cell, boys!”
The reason I think about that story is because of today’s Psalm104---You have set a boundary that they (humanity) may not pass. I think humanity can go only so far. We don’t know how the universe began, nor do we know what lies beyond its edge. Nor can we deny what billions of people through the centuries have felt inside--- a desire to know God, a sense that there is something more to life than what a scientific experiment can conclude.
The Scriptures tell us the problems of earth come and go, and that to trust in God gives us a firm foundation even through all the confusion and complications of our lives. When we live like this God reaches down His hand, not to take away like in the story of the arrogant scientists, but God reaches to us to give---peace in the center of a storm.
